Protocol For Recovering Pts.

I was wondering what your Unit's basic protocol is for recovering patients admitted directly from the OR to the SICU?

For example:

At what temp will you put on a warming blanket/bare hugger?
How often do you do vitals, are these pts always singled?
When do you consider the patient recovered?

What the most comon reversal agents used in the OR that you encounter?

Thanks

Re: Protocol For Recovering Pts.

1---don't generally worry about the tem unless it's below 97.5

2--Vitals are q15x4, q30x2, then q1h. No, they are not 1:1 always.

3--If they are not extubating, the patient is not given anything (about 95% of the time ours are not extubated for a few hours post-op).

Re: Protocol For Recovering Pts.

We recover our patients that have had heart surgery for 2 hours. Vitals are done Q15 for that 2 hours and after that MAP's are done q15 if they are on any pressors. Warming blankets are applied at 35.

Most other patients are recovered for an hour and same protocol for vitals.
