inservice ideas

I need help coming up with an idea for an inservice. We have to do these yearly, but this will be my 1st one. I work in a Surgical Trauma ICU. We seem to get every kind of pt here--liver and kidney transplants, unstable surgcial pts, IL-2, ARDS, any and all trauma. People have already done things like VAP, ICP, head injuries, ARDS, prograf. I don't know why it's so hard for me to come up with an idea, esp one I can find evidenced based research for.

Any ideas?

Re: inservice ideas

why don't you send a staff email to the nurses in your unit or post a sheet in the breakroom and find out what they feel would be the most valuable topic. ask them to list the top 3 inservice topics and then you'll usually get at least 5-6 good ideas and that'll hopefully be useful for the rest of the year. i usually poll my colleagues so they get the most out of it.
