Float Nurse info

What is the most important information you would want a float nurse to know working in your area? This would be a RN with at least 5 years experience in other critical care areas. For example, certain drug info, equipment usage etc. Thanks for your input!

Re: Float Nurse info

Thanks for the info, but I'm looking for something more specific. I'm working on an education book for float staff in specialized areas. So what are your frequent drips, and equipment used. Thanks again!

Assume all trauma patients are on full spinal precautions unless there is an order to discontinue it.
Get familiar with cervical collars-care, safety and maintenence.
Be prepared for a fair number of "road trips" to CT, XRay, MRI, etc. SICU patients travel a lot.
