advice for new sicu rn

Hi all. I am a former OR nurse with 4.5 years experience and 5 months in the SICU. I had no previous floor experience prior to working in the OR. As you can imagine it has been quite a ride. I am in my 40s and this is a 2nd career as well. I wonder if anyone has words of wisdom for myself who seems to want to quit on a daily basis.

I had apirations of CRNA sometime in the future.so if the unit doesn,t work then....Anyhow I would really like to stick with it but seem to feel my age some days. I work in a 21 bed post open heart unit that is very busy. It is not uncommon to have two very critical patients, need to travel with one and constant titration of drips etc.

I am about to come off orientation with a mentor for reference and am nervous to say the least. What can I do. Reference books that anyone likes? Thanks

If you look at the top of the MICU/SICU forum you will find a "sticky" section. Look in there. You will find a lot of useful information. If you want to be a CRNA one day you will need to become very comfortable with drips.
