advanced care unit question

I haven't seen a section for advanced care unit here on the board. At our hospital we have burn, NICU, CCU, ICU and then advanced care units. Is having an advanced care unit rare? Just curious,........

Question

What does an "advanced care unit" consist of? Is it the same as stepdown or "progressive care"?

OK,...call me stupid but is "progressive care" the same as "step down"? At our hospital, advanced care is a step down from ICU.

Well, it seems to me that "advanced care" is just another name for "step down" or "progressive care". One more term to throw into the mix to make the public think that it's innovative.

Yup. Our hospital's got 'em. Don't know why there isn't a forum for it, though.
