Re: Nurses struggling with mental illness

Miss Sharona is hanging in and hanging on. My dh and I have started a petition for civil committment for our son. Found him 2 weeks ago suicidal, very despondent and looped on Heroin.

What a summer. Could use a prayer or two! Thanks Zoe.

Re: Nurses struggling with mental illness

I'm reading everything I can to understand Heroin addiction, and the Methadone Program. He is ready to go into a dual diagnosis center, but is he ready to do the work? It was very hard finding him "again". Again barely breathing. But alive!!!! We can use all the prayers we can get for a recovery for him. Thanks Zoe

((((((((Sharona )))))))))) my little brother who almost died of alcohol poisoning last summer (has wet brain already which is permanent) came to my dad's funeral totally wasted. So I can sure relate. Watching someone willingly put poison in themselves really hurts.

I am thankful I got to stop when I was in my mid 20's before so much damage could be done... I feel so sympathetic towards him. But mad too - he is destroying someone (himself) that I care about!

(((((((((Sharona and son)))))) definitely praying! Do you also want to put a request on the prayer thread in the breakroom? if you want me to put it in there for you send me a PM!

Re: Nurses struggling with mental illness

Sharona

So sorry to hear about your son. My daughter was an addict - went to a treatment center after hitting rock bottom and trying to kill herself.
We essentially went into treatment with her. We had to learn how NOT to be codependent.

We went to Al-alon meetings. They helped a lot.

After a long road, she is 24 years old, in college, working full time and you can see pictures of her and my grandson in my photos.

It can happen for you and your son too.

Just remember, he made choices for himself, it's not your fault. Love him, but don't enable him. Support him emotionally best you can - and be good to yourself as well.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Great post and so glad about your daughter!

My son is already showing signs he has inherited the "family trait" Not a lot I can do, I talk to him, I pray, and I wait.

Re: Nurses struggling with mental illness

As a psych nurse I'm afraid that diagnosis is incorrect, she will not make it through if she if a true schizophrenic. Maybe she is schizo/affective, there is a big difference.

I don't see why not. Is this the initial one? Just know that if it is it's normal to get denied te first time.

God bless!
