To all you DNSs out there....how do you know how many of this and that to order? I went through my building to determine how many briefs we needed per size. My company says the rule of thumb is 5 per person per day...NO ONE is supposed to wear briefs at night. I make sure the closets are stocked on Fridays before I leave but again they have run out. They also ran out of soap although I put at lleast 25 large bottles on each unit on Friday. My census is only 115 at the moment. I could fill my swimming pool with the amount of soap they've used since last month. We use concentrated soap...you know..a little squirt in a basin of water. I think they must be pouring it straight onto their face cloths. I am not a cheap person when it comes to getting the residents what they need, but frankly this is getting riciculous. Any suggestions? I've hired (finally) some one to do central supply so my ADNS and I can get to what WE need to do instead of stocking closets all day.
One more question...what is your salary range for nurse managers? I'm trying to fill 3 empty slots and am arguing with corporate over the rate of pay for a nurse manager. Thanks for any input.
