is it a M-F 9-5 job? - Depends on your setting. If in-house, I'm sure these hours are normal. If you have you own business, you can set your hours. But, will have to do work over and beyond those that you set. Really depends on your workload and the requests of your clients. You might work 5 days a week (your own business), receive a phone call on a Friday afternoon and have to work the weekend.
at home or office? - You can do either. In-house or your own business. Most of my colleagues have their office in their homes (I do, too).
how many cases per week? - I can answer for myself here. I normally average 4 each week. Varying stages of completion. Some weeks, I finish all and take the remainder of the week off. Others, after completion, will attend depositions. My calendar is full most of the time.
is there alot of research? - That's the largest part of this career. Research is constant and never-ending. I spend a
great deal of time online researching and have an in-home library that I use to reference. I have access to a medical library and have to go there as well.
is there traveling involved?? - Only if you wish. I market out of state. I have to travel some for this. If you serve as expert witness (not required to be LNC), your travel is greatly multiplied.
do you have to talk to the people involved in the case? - You mean with the plaintiff/defendant/client? Yes, sometimes.
stressful???? - A different kind of stress. But, can be.
do you work with more than one attorney on several cases?? - Yes. Have several attorneys that contract my business. Sometimes have more than one attorney on the same case.
how long do you spend on one case? - Depends on the case. I've been working on one now well over a year. Others, attorney wants it completed in 2 days (that isn't the norm). Most have several weeks to complete.
lastly, how does working as a LNC compare to working as a staff nurse?? - Completly different than staff nursing. You are not working with the patient. You are using your nursing expertise to apply medicine/nursing to the law, educate the attorney-client, serve as liason between care-givers and the attorney-client. Many roles that are different than your role as patient care-giver.

I might add that I advise the RN have at least 3 years RN experience before entering this career path. Then, seek out an educative entity to receive the training as LNC.
