LNC's NEED HELP WITH Q

even if there is evidence showing a healthcare provider did not perform to appropriate standard of care, he will not be held liable for injuries if:

1) injury sustained was the result of an intervining cause and not the negligence

2) plaintiff's injuries would have not occured but for the defendant's negligent conduct.

I am believing it is 2.. please advise

This is what #2 is stating:

The patient would not have been injured if the nurse was not negligent.
