Hello. I am very interested in becoming a CLNC and have been reading what everyone has been writing about VMI. I have just given them a call to recieve the free info packet. I am also looking at the LNC center with Donna Rooney and was wandering if anyone had taken the course or heard any pros/cons about it. Thanks.

Hi. I am looking into the LNC centers course with Donna Rooney. It is 3 days of lecture taught by trial attorney's and then there is a 20 day home study that includes working on 3 cases. After the cases have been complete you mail them to LNC center and a trial attorney contacts you to go over all the information. Also, Donna Rooney apparently was an ICU nurse and CLNC for 10years prior to becoming an attorney. I am really interested in this program but it seems to be fairly new and I haven't heard anyone comment about it yet. Does anyone have any input as to whether it would be better to recieve training from attorneys or CLNC's? Thanks.

Good luck with your decision. Hopefully others will come along with opinions on this program. IMO, a nice blend of attorneys and LNCs in any program is good.

Also, I do not think that Ms. Rooney was ever a CLNC (Certified Legal Nurse Consultant) which means she took the Milazzo program. I think her title is, JD, BSN, RN, LNC.

I took the Donna Rooney Course offered by the Legal Nurse Consulting Center, Inc. based in Charlotte, N.C. It is a very comprehensive program and offers 73 contact hours when the test is completed and passed. The test is offered on-line with a 2 hr. time limit. You become a member of the American Society of Legal Nurse Consultants when finished with the program. 2 or 3 mentorship (up to one hr. each) programs are offered free of charge by practicing attorneys upon completion of coursework. The staff is very friendly and helpful and is much less expensive than VMI (with travel, meals, and hotels expenses). You can call for a free brochure at any time 1-888-888-4560 during business hours. They also offer continuing education. BE PREPARED TO STUDY HARD. This program is offered nationwide. Donna's CDs are very thorough and the manual covers every conceivable area. You will be sent info about your specific state statutes also.( PS: There are 3 defense cases and 3 plaintiff cases)

Thanks! I'm debating between Kaplan Online or this course..I like that Donna is a nurse and lawyer and I like the mentor idea..any thoughts on the two? Have you completed the course..if so, hows the job market? Thanks!!!

I completed the program in August of last year. The marketing aspect has been very tough. I can't comment on the Kaplan program, as I am not familiar with it. Siri probably has far more information about their setup. Good luck to you!
