I need some LNC's to please share with me the salary one can earn in this field. I have been searching for months looking at so many programs and am very choosey, so the decision of which program to choose is still up in the air. I will be choosing a program very soon, but still want to know what kind of pay LNC can expect?

First of all let me say, there are many LNCs who are either registered or certified or both. Many who have the added education do not work as LNCs.

Believe me, there are many, many opportunities for the LNC to be successful. The key to success is marketing yourself. Nurses are not business minded per se. Once you have learned how to market yourself, you will be able to have as much or as little work as you want.

In my state alone, I have enough work that I must subcontract to meet deadlines.

Thinking of getting into the field, and I have many questions. If you're just starting out how do you determine what's a reasonable rate in your area of the country? I'm sure the attorneys will lowball me if I ask them. Can I ask the local chapter of LNCs. Does Milazzo's seminar or Kaplan's course cover this aspect? Thanks for any input.

I see your concerns and they are valid ones.

First of all let me correct you regarding the Milazzo course. It is not a seminar. It is a fast paced, fully packed course. Very, very fast paced. You will need to focus, focus, focus during the week of learning. Then, at the end of the course, you take a certification examination. The course is excellent.

As for the course covering how to market yourself? Yes, it does. But, as with any career that involves marketing, you learn the basics and then you hone these bascis, then apply them to you and what you want out of the career. As I have said before, nurses are not business minded per se. We know nursing/medicine, but, have no clue how to market ourselves for we have not had to do that. Apply and get a job. No marketing involved, really.

The medical-legal consultant MUST take the information gleaned from ANY course and learn how to adapt this information for themselves.

The Milazzo Inst. has mentors for you. They will assist you on a daily basis ......24 hours a day if need be!! You are never alone after the course is completed. You will not be left to market yourself on your own. Believe me, I learned plenty during the course, but, if left to my own imagination and ability after the course, I would never have made it.......alone. That is why this choice, Vickie Milazzo, is the best choice.

As for the charges. You make that decision. Yes, you will have attorneys/clients who will balk at ANYTHING you charge. That is a marketing issue as well. Just pick a fee and stick with it. Believe me, you will succeed.

I have recently achieved my CLNC certification through the Vickie Milazzo program and was very pleased with it. However, I feel hesitant about getting out there simply because I am not sure about how to send out a "sample report" to clients or about an introduction letter. I wonder if there are any legal nurse consultants that can give me advice on this? Also, do you think it would be worth the money to take the vickie milazzo 2 day apprenticeship on report writing?
