Please help me. I am only in the research stages of becoming a legal nurse consultant and was beginning by phoning some of the attorneys in my community to see if there is a need. The first one said they would love to have someone to consult with. The second one said he needed me RIGHT NOW. He doesn't mind that I haven't had any formal training yet. He feels that 29 years of varied nursing experience is enough to help him review the medical files of the case he is working on. He offered to pay me $ 50 an hour ( which is 2 times what I make at my present job) Should i jump in like this? I would appreciate some input. Thanks!

Sounds like a good oppurtunity. If you can get it in writing then why not.

Yes, by all means, you should jump at this, Rhondafro. Congratulations. Most LNC's are trying to land jobs like this and out of the blue, you do it. Your experience will carry you far in this career choice.

That is really good. Sounds like you hit just the right atty. I can imagine the attys here would be pretty quick to give the brush off. I would imagine I would probably have to go to Dallas or Houston.
Right before I quit working at a law firm, a nurse consultant came in and left her card for an atty to call her. I dont know if he ever did cause the next week was my last.
I may ask the legal asst. who works for him. I still keep in touch with everyone.

That sounds like a sweet offer. I will be fininshing LNC classess end of this month.. (its been a long 20 weeks and glad its almost over)
I have no idea how to get started, and I hear it is not easy to do so.. You should accept the offer. Do you live in a large city? I understand geographical location is very important in success of the business.
