Questions? - experience required to be LNC?

hi everyone. i have been reading about LNC programmes. it is recommended to have 3 years of experience as RN before starting. i have been critical care nurse since one year in U.S. before that i was critical care nurse in india for 4 years. so does that experience still count here?
thanks in advance, because you all gonna say welcome to the forum.

Re: experience required to be LNC?

I would recommend that you get more US experience. The healthcare system and legal system is different in other countries. I believe you would have a difficult time attempting to become an LNC without more experience in the U.S. as there are many subtleties/nuances that you need to have a firm grasp of before attempting a job as an LNC.

Hello and Welcome to allnurses.com

Good to have you with us.

RNs are globally educated as LNC, so I see no problem for you if you wish to do the same. If you have a good command of the English language and possess good research skills (including computer savvy), you should do fine. Also, you must be able to apply SOC/SOP to all healthcare disciplines. If you find that you are weak any any of these areas, you might consider a little more RN experience.

Good luck with all of your career plans as LNC. And, we hope you enjoy allnurses.com!! If you have other questions/concerns, please post here.
