Lightbulb considering career as legal nurse

Please help! i am currently trying to find a good program for legal nurse certification. I have researched the Vicki Millazzo program. What do any of you think of it? I want to proceed with this part of my career, but need some friendly advice from peers. Thank you for your time. Melbsn

Hello, melbsn

I received certification from the Milazzo Inst. Very good program. If you desire more information, please do not hesitate to post your questions here or send me a private message (PM). (click on my name and click on send PM).

Re: considering career as legal nurse

I too have been contemplating the Milazzo program. I have a colleague who charges $250/hr to consult, makes well over $150,000 per year and says most attorney's don't really care if you had a class or certify or not and that it was no help. BUT, she was an expert witness before she took the class. For anyone who is just trying to break in, I imagine it would be helpful to know what attorneys are talking about. It sounds like this is a good short alternative to the college programs and you don't have to have experience to get certified in her association. Although it is not the same certification that the AALNC offers.

I defer to Siri and my more experienced counterparts when it comes to all of the answers you are seeking but here is my opinion.
I enjoyed the Milazzo course and got a lot of info out if it but thought it was overmarketed and WAY over priced!!
I have also found that most LNCs in my area are earning way less, $60-$100 for consulting, more for testifying.
I got a lot out of the AALNC on a local level,
good luck,
Sue

Hi, Hagabel,

The Milazzo course is very expensive, but, I have utilized all of their post course offerings. The ability to talk with and/or interact with the other CLNCs is phenomenal. I made the right decision for me. And, the cost of the course has paid for itself.

As for the fees charged, it depends on the area involved and whether there is competition among other CLNCs. Have you tired marketing outside your area? I do. And, have much success.

You might consider the apprecticeship course with the Milazzo Inst., too. This put me over the top in my marketing abilities.

Again, I offer you assistance, if you so desire.
