[OhERRN1984]

Hi to all, I`m a newbie here, just signed up today. Chuckling to self, hardly a newbie to Nursing though, 20 plus years experience, mostly ER, and have had a BAD case of hospital burnout. I stopped working as a nurse last March, have been doing a bunch of things, but not getting much return for my efforts at being a home employed entity. Luckily I have a VERY supportive wife, who as it happens makes a good income, so we aren`t destitute.

As of late I`ve been investigating using my Nursing knowledge and resources to make something of a living, and by way of that search have been looking long and hard at becoming a legal nurse consultant, it seems I`m not alone in this search, and now am wondering if it is an oversaturated field. Also seems from what I can surmise the hardest part of this is to get the attorneys to understand why they need to use U, vs their on the clock paralegals.

I live in Ohio, not sure if that is germane to the issue, but Ohio always seems to be saturated with whatever I`m attempting to do, so maybe it is.

Anyhow I`ve come across several different titles, CLNC, RLNC, and LNC to name a few. I`ve seen recent pages that are slightly warning me off of the LNC title as not being enough.

However a post reply by a_chaz for: http://www.aalnc.org seemed to be a pretty comprehensive site, which I`ve not yet fully checked out. Thanks a_chaz for the link

I`ve seen several replies by siri, also a CLNC, and his offer to others about the ins and outs of legal nurse consultant work.

I`ve seen lots of info about CLNC, much of which has been from Vickie Milazzo Institute CLNC, which to go full bore appears to be about $10K if one took the VIP entrance, and the 2 day start your biz course, plus travel etc, etc. This seems to be the fast track into this area, 6 days, also seems to have a very comprehensive support program. CLNC has numerous listings on a Goggle showing RN`s hanging out their shingle as CLNC`s, wondering if they actually get much business?

In Ohio I`ve seen reference to RLNC from the site:

Has anyone got any input about this RNLC program, 4 days, $1800.00 and it`s not far away from me.

Basically I`m looking for info here, in the way of SUCCESS STORIES, do you have CLNC, RLNC, are you actually making any money, can this be living?

I had a stint as an Insurance RN, was a good job, but the company lost their contract, poof, job gone. Chart review isn`t annoying to me, I`m self motivated, hard working, and do like things legal, actually more so than things medical. What I`m trying to say is I believe this could be good work for me, but is work available in Ohio.

Any thoughts, comments, humor (laughing at my typing not allowed, lol), or other input welcomed.

Sorry it took me a while to get to you.

I am CLNC. I did take the Milazzo course about 4 years ago. Yes, it (Milazzo) is expensive, but, well worth the money spent. You are very prepared with the medical legal format and you are truly motivated to market yourself when you complete the course. But, staying motivated is the key to success and that is why a full-time mentor like the VIP track gives you. Also, staying in touch with other CLNC's is a must. So, you have come to the right place here.

I started my own business and incorporated this year. I am located in the South. But, I do know there are CLNC's who are very successful in Ohio.

Hi siri and thanks for the return. I`d looked through the other posts here, and was delighted to see there was even a forum just for legal. I love the internet, info is just a few keystrokes away.

From what I saw the Milazzo course seemed very complete, and I did note the amount of follow provided after the initial course, which I must say is a rarity, at least in comparison to other courses I`ve taken, but as you said, and I`ve noted, it is expensive. However from recent exposure in trying to get a few other things going, non nursing, if the marketing assistance can help get you going that may be a smaller price to pay than what it may first seem.

I`d never been a business owner, and getting noticed amongst the competition is the real work to becoming successful I am finding.

I thank you also for offer of additional help, and I`ll keep that in mind as well.

I`m currently just starting out with another completely non nursing venture, which didn`t have any start up costs. I`m planning on playing with it for a month or so, to see if it gets any nibbles. If not I`ll probaly double back and take a closer look at the legal nursing, just wishing the Milazzo offering in Vegas was later in the year, if not already full, I`m sure it soon will be. Of the choices that looks most appealing, little study, little fun, my kind of seminar.

You are very correct. Having your own business is a breed apart. It takes much work to market effectively.

I completed the Milazzo seminar in Oct in Las Vegas and if you can get past all the hooplah and such stuff the course was very good, a lot of info and fastpaced, long days..thank goodness the course was in Vegas!
Milazzo says be prepared for 3 hr study per night which made me nervous but I did about an hr going over sample questions and passed exam ok.
I took the basic package and so do not get unlimited mentoring but i have found with help from colleagues in the local community and great advice from Siri I am doing ok getting my marketing package together.
I would recommend joining the AALNC and join you rlocal chapter, great resource at a local level.
I enjoyed the course but feel it was way overpriced and I refused to give Milazzo any more money!! Just my 2 c worth!

Hi Siri, I too am CLNC, just recently obtained. I will be going to the conference in March. Initially I was having buyers remorse about the money spent to get it. My goal is to start searching for prospects after I go to the conference. the 6 day course took a lot out of me. It was a very long week. I had bags under my eyes and I was sleep deprived. I am looking forward to starting. I am in Northern California. Any advice you can give regarding success in the CLNC business would be greatly appreciated.

One note for OHERRN. If I did not get anything out of the CLNC course, I did get the POWER of POSITIVE thinking. This is what the Malzo institute basis it's success on. Hence passing the course the first time.

I also attended the Milazzo course in Vegas. I agree with you on the Hooplah. 60 dollars for a t-shirt go figure. I too only purchased the basic package. I am very pratical and I know that I will succeed no matter how much I spend and the additional money for the status of VIP was not worth it to me.

Can't blame you there. I did the same thing. You will love the conferences, too. I guess I will see you in San D.

I will be here whenever you get ready to start marketing. Be working on a company name and your business cards/letter head at least. Let me know when you get ready to put together a marketing pack.
