Re: 2006 AALNC Education Conference

The AALNC conference in Atlanta was awesome. The speakers were dynamic and I had a difficult time selecting which sessions I was going to attend. But several good things came out of the meeting. 1) ANA and the credentialing board accepted the updated "LNC Scope and Standards of Practice" and we have been accepted as a Nursing Speciality. We were told that it usually takes 5 years to get accepted, but thanks to a dedicated board of directors for the National Association and many, many hours of work, we made it in 2 years. Yes!!!!!! 2) Next year's conference will be in Austin, TX, the last week of April. I hate I didn't get to go to (Vickie's) NACLNC conference. 3) also the ANA and AALNC position statement now says that LNCs must keep a current RN license. I can't wait for next year's conferences.

Re: 2006 AALNC Education Conference

Thanks, legalnurse22,

I would have loved to have gone to the conference. But, had a deposition that week and couldn't do it. Sounds as if ya'll had some wonderful breakout sessons.

Great news about the standards being accepted as a specialty. Now maybe the BON will stop telling everyone we are practicing out of our scope of practice and get with the program that legal nursing is here to stay.

As for keeping a current RN license, that has always been necessary to practice.

I will be going next year for certain.

Thanks for the update.

Re: 2006 AALNC Education Conference

I hope to go next year too! I did look on the AALNC website (I joined the association last evening, jumping in head first) and saw the date. Do they put out an Itinerary sometime as the date draws closer to scheduling?

Re: 2006 AALNC Education Conference

You should receive automatic emails, nightngale1998, announcing dates.

Glad to see you joined the AALNC. Very helpful organization with a wealth of info. I hope to attend next year as well.
