I am an inactive LPN in West Virginia and I am finding it extremely difficult to reactivate my license. I have a job but our state requires a temp license of 90 days in which you must work 200 hours under the direct supervision of an RN or MD. The job that I have been accepted to is home health in which there is no RN with me in the home. The other option is a refresher course. W V has none state wide!! I was told by the state board to "surf the web" and find a course and if it met their approval I could take it. Problem is ...I can't find any. Can anyone help me!! My other choice is to find another job for 90 days then quit and go to the home health agency (they will hold the job for me!) Please give me some input. Your help will be appreciated.

May or may not help since you're in W.V., but refreshers do exist. There is one at Durham Technical Community College in Durham, N.C. I believe it lasts for one semester, 4 days a week, for a cost of about $300.00. I checked into it once myself, but decided to just go back for my RN. Good luck. For what it is worth, I also worked Home Health in Ohio and even though there was no RN in the field with me, I still reported to one. Sure that doesn't count?

I activated my license in Pennsylvania (after it had expired for about 3-4 years by a simple explanation of the truth. Our state nursing board understood and was kind enough to send me an application for renewal for a small fee. Try and contact Nursing Board and see what they say. Nine times out of 10 you will get a sympathetic person only too willing to help you. Good Luck!
