SCHIP polls

Voters—by a margin of more than 2:1, or 63 percent to 31 percent—also favor expanding SCHIP to cover 4 million more uninsured children at a cost of $35 million.

Of course, in the upside-down world of President Bush, a wildly popular initiative that would also do loads of good—say SCHIP reauthorization and expansion—can only mean one thing—time to veto!

Re: SCHIP polls

The bill was passed by members of both parties and independents of the House & Senate. I think most people want children to have healthcare.

Here is an opinion piece:
Who’s Afraid of Sick Kids?
by Joe Brewer

...Health care is a privilege that must be earned. If you earn enough to provide for your family but are denied insurance, you must give up all comfort and security to pay for medical treatment. Sell your house. Let insurance companies snatch your savings. Only when you are destitute will it be appropriate for our government to help....
