Care in need of a cure

Care in need of a cure

A new Michael Moore documentary on healthcare, criticism by an NIH official and a recent global report point out that the nation has fallen behind others when it comes to caring for its average citizen

I am hoping for a discussion of our need to improve healthcare in this country.

Read about the National Institutes of Health physician and other reports. Please?

Re: Care in need of a cure

The first step to improving health-care.

Tort reform squared. Caps on both malpractice awards, AND caps on malpractice premiums. Everyone likes to target insurance companies, but noone ever mentions the money made by liability insurers. Of course, former Senator Edwards wouldn't want to shut down the source of his extorted wealth.

It is NOT POSSIBLE to execute the kind of care required in a single-payer system if the incentive to be efficient is grossly overridden by the incentive to CYA.

Re: Care in need of a cure

Letter to the editor:

SB840 needed

In the wake of the case of a woman who died five weeks ago in a Los Angeles emergency room because of lack of medical attention, there has been public outcry over the conditions of our emergency care.
More and more people are seeking primary care from ERs because they lack affordable alternatives. It's appalling to think this country spends the most per capita on healthcare, yet falls behind Canada, Britain, France and Cuba in life expectancy, adult mortality and infant mortality rates.....
