I started nursing in 1989 and right from the word go I loved it. I wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember, there was never anything else I wanted to do. I entered the profession with an enthusiasm that has never wained and I am as passionate about nursing today as I was almost 20 years ago. I have had a great career and have been well recieved by patients and staff and I can count on one hand the amount of times I have been miserable. I am also a registered Midwife but have chosen not to follow that profession as I prefer to look after the sick.
I love people, I find them facinating and interesting. My direct, fresh approach to everything and everyone has kept me in good stead. I will stand up for what i believe is right, and I am a loyal considerate collegue. If challenged I will meet it head on, which is the way I have approached a lot of things in my life. I never regret what I have done, I shall only regret things I havent done-but I plan to do.
My life growing up as a child in the 60's kind of prepared me for life as a nurse. My parents were divorced by the time I was 10 years old, in a middle class society in England it was virtually unheard of in my circle of a child growing up in a single parent family and being a latch key kid.
My mother worked hard and earned great money from the age of 7years I was tralling all over the world with her. I met people from all walks of life, different religions, color, and sexuality and my mother brought me up to respect life and the person. I never experienced predudices at home and have never understood people who have looked at a persons skin color or sexuality and judged. For me the most important thing in the world is how we treat each other, is this person kind, do they talk to me with interest and respect I could care less about anything else. Mean people come in all shapes and sizes, colors, religions.
If I was to point out one of my weaknesses it would be the intollerance of ignorance, now what I mean by this statement is most of us are able to be educated and learn to respect others-it is when they have all the information and still behave badly.

I am very happily married with two children, a dog and two cats. I have a lovely extended family and I am very fortunate to have lovely friends.
I am however aging, growing big around the middle and have crows feet lol. My bubbly personality gets me into trouble sometimes, and I swear a lot.

So that's me not run of the mill, not perfect but hey I laugh at myself a lot because I am funny
