outpatient procedure

I had a Medicare resident out for an outpatient procedure. He went out 5AM 10/4 and returned 10PM 10/5. He was out of the building for >24 hours. My assessment calendar would reset and we would have to do a 5 day again, correct? My 'team' is arguing the fact. Also, could someone provide me with the proper regulations on this? I won't mind conceding, but I need to see facts. TIA!

Yes, you would need to start your assessment time frame all over again.
It would be a Medicare readmission/return assessment -05. You would be required to fill out a discharge tracking form also. This is noted in your MDS manual on Page 2-38.

Re: outpatient procedure

You are correct. Do a DC = 7, Reentry, then start over w/ a Readm/Return (not a 5-day). See RAI p 2-26 DC/Reentry Flowchart.

Yep, the two above posters are correct.
