AANAC Discussion Group Closing Its Door

In my previous posts I've mentioned a "free" discussion group which I find very helpful and essential to those who are engaged in the MDS process. Finally, they are closing their doors to non-members and are going exclusive effective April '08.

Those non-members who will be displaced can surely find refuge here! All you non-members of the AANAC can call on your colleagues to come and join. The more participants join in, the faster help can be had. ALL MDS related information is available on the net for FREE. Let's stack our brains to put this knowledge together and help each other.

Kudos Allnurses!

Re: AANAC Discussion Group Closing Its Door

I truly believe that AANAC members will suffer when the listserv becomes a "MEMBER ONLY" listserv.

Many current listserv members who provide carefully thought out insight, news and "links", perspectives from their specialty, and other information--ARE NOT AANAC MEMBERS.

AANAC is a "for-profit" company--yes, their members are well educated on MDS completion--an education which they pay for dearly and for which they must pay to update. The variable quality of the education depends solely on the trainer. Although I was a member years ago, at this point the membership benefits do NOT balance the cost of membership.
When a 2 hour on-line webinar costs $99 for a member, tis time to look for a different educational forum.

I hope this forum will blossom, and I plan to become an active member.

Thumbs up Re: AANAC Discussion Group Closing Its Door

I am new here, directed by a poster while still allowed on the AANAC boards. I am so sad, and I feel the boards are clsoed simply to make more money for AANAC, but I feel thru the course prices they are able to make more than enough money, but just want more, more more... so sad, there was so much knowledge and support there, you know being a MDS coor is almost a thank less job, almost everyone hates to hear from us, clinicians who have not finished their work, patient familiies who hear their Med A is being cut and they have to pay privately, It was great to have a place to vent and share... I hope eveyone comes here, I had no idea this site existed, but THANK YOU for being here.

Even though there are some of us who will complain, I'm sure it will fall on deaf ears, so bye bye AANAC... hello allnurses !!!!

Re: AANAC Discussion Group Closing Its Door

I am a member of AANAC, AANEX and allnurses, I like them all. But I have to say allnurses is my favorite. I like all the extras such as the Thank You's, ability to email privately, how you can rate a thread. I also like how you have full control of what you read. You will find that there are several MDS folks who belong to both sites and will share there experience here as well. Since you are new, get familiar with this site and see what's out there! Enjoy.

Re: AANAC Discussion Group Closing Its Door

Former AANAC member, right there along with you guys! Soo excited to find allnurses, how cool is this. Have already read posts from familiar names, glad to see I'm not the only one to look for greener pastures. Will spread the word.
