Online CEUs in Informatics for Nurses

Informatics for Nursing and Health Care Leaders Gain knowledge and skills
for processing and managing health care information.

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing is now offering online
continuing education modules to prepare the healthcare workforce about the
use of health information technology (HIT). These online modules will
integrate principles from information, cognitive, and computer sciences
along with practical application in health care. Major emphasis will be on
what nursing and other health care leaders need to know to adopt, implement,
and effectively use HIT for improving patient safety, quality, and efficient
healthcare. These modules are targeted to health care leaders, providers,
educators, informaticians, and students.

CourseModules

Module 1: Paving the Cow Path or Getting More for Your Money

* Describe the importance of examining business and workflow processes
prior to determining system requirements.
* Identify the importance of prioritizing clear system requirements.
* Explore the upfront and hidden costs associated with selecting and
implementing and information system.
* Examine management strategies to decrease costs.

Module 2: Turning Data into Management Information

* Explore issues related to data for secondary use in management
reports.
* Strategize how to avoid pitfalls of "garbage in - garbage out" when
creating management reports.
