Remicade

Wondering how everyone gives Remicade in their facility. Only certain nurses, such as chemo nurses allowed to give, what type of monitoring is done, do you titrate the rate, etc. On the Remicade website, it only says if has to be greater than 2hr infusion. I have seen it given two different ways, over 3hr infusion and the other hospital titrated rate and it took about 6hrs. So how is everyone else giving this drug. Thanks.

Kristy

Re: Remicade

In my facility, Remicade is given over a 4 hr period after the initial dose. The initial dose is given over 6 hr and titrated for such. Vital signs are taken every 15 minutes for the 1st hour and every 30 minutes thereafter.
