Phenergan - Contraindicated in Children Under Age 2

Phenergan Warning

Because of the risk of fatal respiratory depression, the antihistamine promethazine (Phenergan) should not be given to children younger than age 2, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The contraindication affects all forms of the drug, including syrups, suppositories, tablets, and injectables. Generic and brand-name labels have been changed to reflect the drug’s new status.
