What should I expect at peer interview for PACU?

I am interviewing for a PACU position. One part is a peer interview by the current staff. Can anyone give me insight as to the questions I may be asked? As a PACU nurse, what are you looking for in a potential new staff member, aside from the obvious-positive attitude, willingness to learn, team player kind of qualities that I posess. Honestly want this to be a good fit, but want to be prepared, as well. Thanks.

Flexibility is a must! If unit is busy when your time to go home, you may have to stay & get your pt. to their room. How do you handle pressure? Being calm in emergency and being able to anticipate problems are great skills for PACU. Handling conflict directly and professionally is important in any area of nursing-( I was questioned in an interview how I would approach a coworker I felt wasn't carrying their load and other similar questions) Good luck! PACU is a great place to work!

We ask about things like working well together and handling conflict, dealing with pressure. We are usually just trying to get a sense of that person and how they would fit in our unit.

Also, if you can be prepared with questions it would help. I interviewed at a couple different places and I asked about how well people got along. At this one place they told me that most people just stayed b/c of seniority and that there was tons of conflicts and most people were miserable. I couldn't believe how honest they were. Needless to say I did not accept that position.

Good luck on your interview!
