Step Down Cardiac to PACU??

I've been a cardiac RN for ~2 years (in Feb). I'm looking for a career change. My NM is not the greatest and we see so many "repeats" on our floor, it's becoming annoying. And to be honest, I'm ready to move on to more challenging work.

As a student, I observed PACU nursing for about a week and really thought it to be interesting work. Our community hospital DOES hire new grads but I
wasn't quite sure about the PACU so I opted for telemetry instead.

There is (1) position open in my hospital and I've been contemplating applying for it. I'm a very easy person to get along with and consider myself smart. I currently have ACLS but not PALS (our hospital only admits adults with the exception of our mommy/baby unit).

Do you PACU nurses believe this is an easy transition? What suggestions could you give me to help me pursue a career in PACU?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Step Down Cardiac to PACU??

I went from a tele floor to PACU. It was the best thing I ever did. We PACU nurses can be territorial ( spelling?) and defensive, but we are generally a good group. Knowing rhythms will defenitely be good for you. You can learn the rest.
