PACU-ISMS...what are some of yall's?

we have our own little PACU-isms...things that we say on a daily basis, frequently, to kind of break the monotony and just simply make it FUN. here are some of my units. would love to hear what yall say!

met criteria for dc from phase I: "i'm ready to punt"

get pt ready to roll to same day or wherever e.g. take off monitor "let's wrap", "ready to wrap"

what we say when anesthesia rolls in and says local mac "well, then, take em on back!"

get stuck with a time-consuming, labor intensive pt "i got sacked in the end zone"

when a nurse is seen taking a long time to recover a pt (warranted or unwarranted), we make chicken sounds "bwok bwok bwok" and ask "are ya hatchin' an egg?"

when anesthesia rolls in and says "general", we say "i thought he was a Colonel!"

oh we have so many and cant think of the others, but will edit to add as i think of more!

my PACU is so much fun..we even FIGHT for patients and sometimes try to be SLICK and STEAL patients right from underneath one another if is rollin in and looks like an easy one ha ha. we laugh all day long.

When we say "Take that patient down" we mean to unhook their monitors and ready them for transport.
In the ER or Psych that means something else altogether!

None of those things happen in the PACU I worked at. Nurses will avoid patients rolling out from OR. If I had a stable patient, even though 1/2 hour VS weren't done yet I would take a 2nd patient. It was a big deal for a lot of the nurses to have more than one patient, the drama about it would last for a week.
That's part of why I left PACU!
