I HAVE BEEN AN LVN FOR 8 YEARS AND WILL BEGETTING MY RN THIS SUMMER. I ALREADY HAVE A JOB IN THE ICU WHEN I GRADUATE. MY OLD NURSE MANAGER WORKS THERE NOW. SHE KNOWS I WANT TO GO TO PACU AND I NEED ICU EXPERIENCE FIRST. HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO I NEED IN ICU BEFORE I SHOULD TRANSFER TO PACU?

It would depend on if your PACU requires a certain amount of time in the critical care setting before you transfer?
My suggestion would be at the LEAST 1 yr, I would suggest 2 yrs. It usually takes 2yrs before your comfortable with your skills and knowledge in the critical care arena. Most career choices have the standard of 2yrs ICU experience.
It will take you 6mos just to get your head on straight!
