It gets easier right???

I know the answer but I still had to ask.
I just left an 8 year postion for a new one in a new inpatient/SDS phase I PACU.
I like it alot, but I a so tired mentally more than physically from all the new learning!
I forgot how hard it is to be new. The patient care is no problem, it is learning the new charting, computers, and physician preferences and orders that is so tiring!
Thanks. How long does this last again?

Re: It gets easier right???

For me, it takes about a year before I feel comfortable with a new area/job.
And still the learning curve continues, though not at such a steep rise!

Also, I agree: The first few weeks at a new position, after work I'm EXHAUSTED, literally, because I'm trying to absorb so much. It's not necessarily physically demanding, but emotionally draining.

Take a look at yourself in another month, and then in another three months . .

You'll be impressed with your progress, as you compare with how you were when you started.

Good luck!

Thanks Dianah!
Even though I went from PACU to PACU I am still amazed at the differences and the amount to absorb. I feel like a sponge that got rung out at the end of the day!
I will look forward to each milestone.

Thanks.
Today was not the day that it gets easier though!
for every one time I entered an order in the computer correctly I didn't enter 5 correctly, sigh.
Well, a year is only 50 weeks away!
