our hospital starting doing endo aaa 10 years ago. initially they came to pacu then to icu. Afer the first year the powers that be decided the patients could go to a surgical floor BUT they had to stay in pacu for 4 hours.
our unit is trying to decrease this length of stay
just curious and how other units recover these pts
We currently work with one of the vascular surgeons who will write in his order sheet: Monitor in PACU for four hours, Discontinue A-line, admit to surgical unit, etc.
For the most part, his patients do very well by us and apparently on the units as well.
