training needed for iv's

The Board of Nursing here has ceased to allow LVN's to do IV's. They want 36 hours of documented education in order for the LVN's to be able to start and IV and hand routine meds. Help. I need to give them some proof that this is a ridiculous amount of time and that the skills needed can be learned in less time. Also, what are other areas requiring before a LPN can do IV's. javery@saipan.com

We require LPNs to be certified to not only start IVs, but to be able to give IV meds.
They get this by attending classes at one of the technical schools in our community.
