I had a question about bleeding IV lines. I have been working with a recurrent patient on IV antibiotics. I was wondering about the wisdom of getting vancomycin on my hands when I bleed a line. It seems like at least theoretically I could colonize myself with MRSA as a result. Is it generally recommended to wear gloves when bleeding lines that are carrying drugs or antibiotics?
