I know that the answer to this question may vary, maybe based on which state you live in, & I'm sure my teacher would be able to answer these questions for me, before or when I start my classes but I thought I'd post here. After we take the test, I read that here where I'm at, it takes, like, 2 weeks to get on the CNA Registry. Will I have to wait to apply for jobs or will I be able to apply for jobs while I'm in class, even??? Anybody, know???

In Kentucky you can apply for jobs right after taking the State exam. You get started at a lower rate of pay, then once you have the letter stating you have passed the State exam, your pay rate goes up.

Only in rare cases do CNA students ever work before they pass the

state exam. Most times you should have your certificate in hand

when you apply at a place.

I'm in clinicals right now and have two job offers waiting for me. I started applying last week. I say go for it as soon as you can. The two places that hired me will be hiring me on as an NA until I take my state test, then I will be a CNA with more pay.

I'd like to ask everyone's opinion on a slight variation of this topic.

I'll be taking a nurse aide course this summer and then shortly thereafter moving to another state. I've discovered that it will take 4-6 weeks for the new state to issue me a license. Do you think it would be ok to start applying for jobs before I have a liciense for the new state?
