Is this going to be hard?

So I have my CNA orientation this thursday and I begin classes the following week and now that it's so close I was wondering....Is this going to be hard? I wasn't really worried about it but now that it's getting near I'm starting to panic. To the CNA's already working and who have passed the exams and such....what do you remember was the hardest part of it all?

Re: Is this going to be hard?

For me the written test is common sense. The skills test is a little scary because you have to do certain things in order. There are things that you would do in the "real" environment, such as close the pt's door, wash your hands, etc., but when you are being checked off you may forget to say "I would close the door/pull the curtain, identify myself to the pt..." because you are so nervous about forgetting to make sure that the bed is locked. Stuff like that.

Just relax though! It is just a test to see that you are safe and competent. Good luck on your test and let us know how it goes.

Sincerely,
Jay

Thanks Jay!

Do you remember any thing that may have helped you when studying for the skills test?

Re: Is this going to be hard?

I had a little booklet from the company that gives the test. It listed the different skills and the order that they should be done in. Also, it listed which steps MUST NOT be missed in order to pass the skill. I just went over the steps at home several times. Repetition is the key!

Re: Is this going to be hard?

The nursing home that I received my cna training from passed out these booklets. Check on the link in my signature line for the complete list of cna registries and find the registry for your state. You may find something on their website. Good luck.

Here is the pdf for the booklet that I received.
