It would appear that this is true. According to the TN Bureau of Health Licensure and Regulation Division of Health Care Facilities, As stated on their "
PROCEDURES FOR PLACEMENT ON THE TENNESSEE NURSE AIDE REGISTRY".........
"If you are on the California, Colorado, Illinois or Missouri Nurse Aide Registry, complete Part I, attach a copy of your social security card and photo identification; return the entire application to the Tennessee Nurse Aid Registry at the address listed above. Individuals certified in Alabama, Georgia, and Illinois may be eligible tochallenge the Tennessee Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation (state test). Individuals certified in
North Carolina must complete a Tennessee Nurse Aide Training Program and pass the Tennessee Competency Evaluation (train and test)."
See the following link
helath.state.tn.us This may also be a helpful link for you it is more detailed and includes a list of training facilities in TN
HCFTN
Their site states that people enrolled in an LPN/RN program may request to challenge the test. They do not give a reason why they do not accept NC cna training, but it may have to do with the length of time they require as oppose to NC. I wish you lots of luck with everything.
Sincerely,
Jay
