CNA License

Hi just wondering how long it took everyone to receive their intial CNA License? I sent my initial CNA application in about 2 weeks ago and have heard from CJIS but the Board says it is still being processed. Just wanted to see how long it took everyone else to receive their license. I'm waiting on it so that I can go talk to the nurse manager about working part time during my last year of nursing school and don't want to wait too long. Thanks

Re: CNA License

First, you're certified (hence the 'c' in CNA), not licensed. In many states, you do not receive a piece of paper. I have no paper showing my certification in Illinois. I simply get added to the nurse registry that everyone has the ability to look at either by name or social. The registry also shows (again, in Illinois) if I have any actions pending against me, or complaints.

You need to check with the Department of Health with your state, whomever deals with certification, and ask them directly.
