Re: Calling All CNA's!

Hey all! I just joined this site, after checking it out for quite awhile! I'm glad that we have a community of Nursing Assistants out there who respect their jobs even though in my opinion it is one of the hardest professions there is. I've been an aide for two years now, working in the hospital setting on a med/surg. floor part-time, and also worked my way up at a home-health agency from being a PCA to a HHA full-time. I love my job, kinda fell into this profession by accident, but i'm glad it's working out. I have no real plans right now for being a nurse (maybe an OTA) but it's something i'm keeping in my mind for the future.

Re: Calling All CNA's!

I just passed my state CNA test so now I'm looking for part time work. I am still going to school towards my RN. I'm so glad I found this group. :-)

Re: Calling All CNA's!

Hi my name is Clevian and I'm a male who has just passed his CNA exam. I have completed most of my nursing school RN pre-reqs and now about to work as a CNA. I have plans of working as a CNA until I get my RN license. Once, I get my RN license I hope to work a year in Med/surg then branch off into working as a Travel nurse seeing the world. After that I hope to maybe become a flight nurse. Who knows but so far I love being a CNA. It is making a major impact on my life. Everyday I'm learning something new. I'm glad to be a CNA!

Re: Calling All CNA's!

I never really introduced myself....so here we go. I'm a CNA who will be applying to nursing school in August 2008 for the spring semester. There is a point system at this school, but I think - trust - I'll get in on my first try.

The moment I knew I was a real CNA? My first colostomy bag change. A tad whiffy. Survived and conquered.

Hello everyone! I am Teresa and just became a CNA officially three weeks ago! I have been working at a nursing home for just about two months now and am loving it! When I am not working at the nursing home, I am either driving a school bus or studying for the Associates Degree of Nursing program... yeah, I can spread myself pretty thin.

I look forward to getting to know you all and learning from those that were here before me!

Re: Calling All CNA's!

Hello!
I'm a PCA (patient care assistant-- aka CNA) and have been one since the start of March. I work in a pediatric hospital on the hematology/oncology unit. I must say that I absolutely love it.
I'm also in nursing school getting my BSN. I have about 2 years left of school, then hopefully I will work as a RN on the unit I am on right now!!

Re: Calling All CNA's!

Well, hello everyone! I have been a CNA for 17 years now and I love it! I have worked in geriatrics most of my career but I also have med-surg and ortho/neuro experience as well. I started working as a CNA in 1991 when I was 17 years old. I enjoy spending time with the elderly, they can be so fun sometimes!

All the women in my family are nurses except for me... but I am currently taking care of that though! :-)

Although I am not currently employed as a CNA, I have kept up with my licence. I am now in school getting my RN degree and PRAY to graduate in December of this year. I believe that EVERY nurse that comes into the program, whether it be LPN or RN, should have to work for at least 6 months as a CNA... I have seen nurses that are NOT appreciative of their CNA's and it does not make for a pleasant working environment! I am so ready to be done with school so I can get back to work... I am tired of the books, but I simply LOVE my clinical time! that is my favorite part!!!

I firmly believe that if you don't LOVE your job, you shouldn't be doing it. I have seen too many CNA's as well as nurses complain all the time about their job and I just wonder why they are in it because nursing is all about care and compassion... no matter if you are a CNA or a nurse.
