As a 33 year old male with a bald spot on the back of my head, i decided it was best to just put a razor to my head and shave. I personally like it, and as you would expect in my small town lots of smarta$$ remarks, so my question is this....

With a young looking guy thats 6ft 4 with a shaved head and gotee get on ok in a hospital or will my look be frowned on? Just kinda paranoid i guess...

Re: appearance

The fact that you asked shows that you care about your appearence.

Frowned on? Nope. We have a nurse that shaves his head, and it never fails, he comes in and says "it's cold outside" and one of us looks at him and says "well no wonder!!". An he's ok with that.

Sometimes i wish i could shave my head, it'd be much easier to deal with than my hair.

Re: appearance

I dont think it would be looked as a bad thing. I'm a male as well and unlike our fellow woman a shaved head is normal. I'm 22yrs old and sometimes I wonder if I'll have to shave my head in the long run. My hair is thinning on the sides in my temps, lol. And shaved heads are really becoming for men with hair lost. Its a absoulute normal thing to do. I don't think you should worry about it. I think you are going to be fine. Who knows you may even have someone become very interested in you on the floor

I don't think there is a problem with it either.

Re: appearance

Just make sure you can get a tan when you shave, coming off the winter time i have no tan, so i've been outside working on it before school starts.

Re: appearance

I've seen plenty of males with shaved heads and/or goatee's/beards. I do not see any problems.

Re: appearance

Think of the thousands of dollars you will save on hair products....HA!
Actually, from a cleanliness point of view, you are head and hairline above those who have long locks that dangle down into all sorts of 'stuff'...so, I wouldn't think that would be a problemo....
You could just be smarta$$ back and tell everyone you've just finished your third round of chemo! (no offense to any cancer patients....just being irreverant!)
One of the nurses I worked with who went through chemo, as well as a surgeon, shaved their heads and kept on working....and some of their family members shaved their heads in solidarity with them....
You aren't bald...you are just taller than your hair!
