Endocrine leadership

I am a nursing student going into my last semester. We are required to pick a unit and RN to do a one on one mentorship with for 10-12 hour shifts (they call it leadership... it would more aptly be called mentorship, as we don't lead anyone). My hopsital has a floor than is strictly renal/DM type pts. I haven't had a clinical rotation there but I'd like to do my leadership there. I am an L&D intern and plan to stay there but I hear this floor would be a great learning experience and since I don't plan on doing med-surg I thought I'd try to expose myself now. Of course we see lots of pyelo and DM on my floor so it would be good for practical purposes as well.

Any tips from the pros before I hit the floor? Thanks in advance
