I am an RN practicing ICU/CCU and Cardiac PACU nursing in NJ. I am interested in hyperbaric nursing, but don't know where to start. I woild like to know of any classes or training programs for this specialty.

In my opinion the best monoplace hyperbaric training program is Dick Clarke's through Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, S.C.

NIx medical center in San Antonio TX provides a 60 hour course that meets all the requirements for sitting for the certification test. the course is excellent and covers both monoplace and multiplace chambers. they also have the state of the art texts.

I am presently a nursing student but have been a Hyperbaric Technician for 5 years and a diver in the navy. You have received good advice on courses. NIX in San Antonio is great focus on multiplace chamber as is the staff, plus you get to go to the riverwalk. Dick Clark is THE man when it comes to hyperbarics. If you want to persue monoplace that is the course to take.
I would recommend checking out UHMS.org it lists all the courses and links to chambers and certifying agencies.
Hyperbaricnursing.org is the Baromedical nursing Associationsite (BNA) which is the hyperbaric nursing organization that will give you heads up on nursing issues. I am an associate member - bullet statements
the NBDHMT.org is the certifying agency for all techs and nurses. You will have to eventually get your CHRN (basic cert) then your ACHRN your advanced cert. for both you will need your critical care expeience.
Best Publishing online has alot of the basic hyperbaric and nursing books that may be a good place to start your studies.
