"Trees Grow In Brooklyn" Betty Smith

See No Evil by Robert Baer. He's written other books, but all of them deal with how we are owned by the Saudis. We are not as free as we think we are. It's been mind opening. He should know, when he as a foreign officer in the CIA his area of expertise was the Middle East.

It IS good, a bit bawdy but it really got me interested in the Tudors.

The Kite Runner was excellent and the other book he wrote about Afghanistan, I think it was titled A Thousand Sons, oh my gosh it broke my heart.

Yes... "A Thousand Splendid Suns." I'm listening to it on CD on the way to work this week.

Both are by Khaleid Houssein.

Those books are on my list.
Right now I'm reading The Cider House Rules by John Irving. Picked it up at a used bookstore in the airport the other day.
I've seen the movie and the book is much better.

My daughter, who is very interested in epidemiology, brought home books of interest from her trip to B&N Friday. My hubby and I are currently fighting over The Ghost Map by Steven Johnson. Its about the cholera epidemic in London in the 1850's. The graphic descriptions of the conditions of the time make one wonder how as many managed to survive as long as they did.
