Student Nurse looking for career advice

Hello all! I am currently in my Jr year getting my BSN and my career goal is to get my CNM.

Is thre any advice you can offer me? How long do you suggest I work post-BSN before going back for my CNM.

I'm kind of unfamiliar with the process and my school is doesn't offer a lot of advice for what to do once you're out their door.

Thank you all in advance!

Re: Student Nurse looking for career advice

Hi BaileyB,

I just graduated with an associate's degree in nursing and like you my ultimate goal is to become a CNM. I suggest you go to http://www.allnursingschools.com and search for schools that offer nurse midwife programs. Once you find a school that interests you, go to that website and see what the requirements are to get into a program. A couple of the schools I've researched require at least 1 year experience in labor and delivery, some require that you take the GRE test, a minimum 3.0 gpa in your undergraduate work. I like this website because you can search programs by state and desired degree. Best of luck to you.
