Nurse Midwife as a profession

Hi All:

I am about to begin an accelerated nursing program, so am basically new to the profession of nursing. The certified nurse midwife has sparked my interest so I would really appreciate if someone could give me some insight.. such as the level of independence of CNM, the working hours, the working conditions, enjoyment and satisfaction of CNM, the level of respect of CNM, etc.

It would be of great help!

Thanks
