Hi, I am a nursing student in my first year at a technical college. For my Composition class we need to write a profile about someone with an interesting profession or hobby, which consists of having an interview with them and then writing a paper based on the interview. We were encouraged to choose someone with our desired profession if possible. I am an aspiring labor and delivery nurse and it would be awesome to have an interview via voice chat, or even just im'ing with an OB nurse. I'm sure that this won't help your project, but on Lifetime they had a movie starring Sissy Spasik (sp) that was about a midwife. Sissy played a midwife and during the course of a home delivery, the mother passed out. Sissy checked her vitals and felt that she had died during the delivery. She asked the husband what he wanted to do, and he said nothing, due to the shock of just losing his wife. Sissy took a knife and cut out the baby (which she had never done before), and the baby was perfectly fine. An autopsy raised questions later of whether or not the woman was actually dead when she did the c-section, and thus, her character was charged with 2nd degree murder.

It was a very moving picture, and will bring tears to your eyes. It also focuses very heavily on the misconception, that midwives are not qualified enough to do a home birth.
