Do midwives have to have their own malpractice insurance policies? If so, are the premiums outrageous like they are for OBs? I've heard OBs work 3-5 months of the year to cover their premiums. Does it depend on the setting in which a midwife works whether she is covered under an OB's policy or her own?

Also, do you think that the market for midwives is saturated? Does it take new grads a long time to find work? I'm sure it depends on your location, but I'm interested in getting a feel for the overall picture.
