Is it possible to take a few preparatory classes that are required of all schools for their CNM program before actually beginning the CNM tract?

I feel very overwhelmed with the thought of attending classes or even online classes for the next 2-3 years. I want to get started and I enjoy reading and taking classes but I want to go at my own pace here.

Seems people in bachelors programs do this all the time, take a class here, take a class there, etc. Is not possible for an MSN program?

Yes, you can. I did. The best things to take are the classes that are considered the "master's core" classes - nursing theory, research/statistics courses, health policy. Someone told me not to take pharmacology before being admitted, because the state might have an issue with that when it came to getting prescriptive authority.

One thing to watch out for is that the school may have a time limit on how long they will give you credit for the class before making you repeat it. So if you think it might take more than 5 years before you graduate, you might want to wait.

You should be careful, though, if you plan on transfering schools. Just because some schools combine courses (like research and theory) into one class. You could run into issues with that. It would be best to take classes at the school you think you might go to later on.
