#1 Nursing Community for Nurses: 281,419 Members
The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is an advanced practice RN (APN) who is a graduate of a nurse-midwifery program and is nationally certified. Most states require an MSN to be a licensed CNM. The CNM delivers babies in hospitals and homes, provides prenatal and postpartum care for mothers, post-delivery care for newborns, family planning and birth control counseling, and preventive health screening. In most states, CNMs have prescription privileges.
