How many deliveries are required

Does anyone know how many deliveries are required for each of the CNM schools? I heard that direct entry midwives need 40 but I have heard CNM programs need 20.. How many do most programs require to graduate

There are suggested numbers, but each program has the ability to require more than the minimum. The idea is that students will be competant to practice at the beginning midwife level on graduation. For some students, that might mean having done 20 births, for others that might mean having done 50 or more to reach that level of competence.

Here are the suggested minimums: http://www.midwife.org/display.cfm?id=452&print=2

So you might just have to talk to the program you're wondering about to see what they require. In my experience, very few students graduate with even close to 20 births, most have more, and sometimes many more.

Frontier doubles the ACNM numbers. You need 40 births for their school. The more experience you get in school the better.
