Advice for planning to be a CNM

Hello,
I am new to the site so.... I am not 100% sure about everything, but I know my goals in life hehe! I was active duty Navy for 10 yrs and got out to pursue my nursing degree ( i was a junior in the nursing program in Hawaii, then moved to CA not realizing how hard it would to get in school, finally starting in Oct). I have to do my two yrs to get my BSN then wanted to go back in the Navy, I was hoping to have the Navy send me to a master degree program for CNM my second tour, is there anything I should be doing between now and then to become a CNM. Is 40 getting to old to be a CNM as a beginner. I am 30 now, hoping to be a L&D nurse by the time I am 33.

That's definitely not too old. Get some experience in L & D because it will be invaluable when you do go on for CNM program. Also, experience in ambulatory women's clinics is valuable if that is possible. Good Luck!

Re: Advice for planning to be a CNM

I was 47 when I graduated from my CNM program. Age is just a number. Think about all the "lived experience" you have!
